PitchLab with Janne Lautanala

Updated: Dec 1, 2018

Our last event in 2018, turned out to be quite intimate and cosy and brought a great value for all the participants - the attendees and the startups both.

We had  as our special guest Mr Janne Lautanala, General Manager, Open Innovation Middle East and Asia at Wärtsilä, Finnish Business Council Chairman

Janne shared his journey as a professional - from in-house software development roles to 15 years with Accenture and Avanade, until he moved back to the in-house role with Wärtsilä with responsibility its' Digital Foundry globally. Impressive, that at the same time, he is also an entrepreneur for 26 years.

We discussed how Wärtsilä Open Innovation Center Operates as an incubator and accelerator for new digital ideas. Once such ideas are brought to the Acceleration Centres, they will be rapidly crystallized and developed, and then assessed and validated with customers and end-users over a three-week period. The results will then be presented to a group of stakeholders. Prior to that, these stakeholders receive the deck to comment on it prior to the demo day while entrepreneurs go through rehearsals to fine-tune their pitches and get prepared.

We also got a few words of inspiration/"warning" for the entrepreneurs presenting that night.
