PitchLab launch at the INSEAD Campus

We started with the panel of investors and mentors sharing their experience and warming up the audience before the pitches (full video of the panel).

Shoko Suzuki - Managing Director at Harbourfront Ventures/Board of Directors at BANSEA.

Based in Singapore, she invests in seed / pre-series A / series A companies primarily in fintech, blockchain, healthcare and clean technologies. She worked as a healthcare equity analyst at Capital Group (US-based long-term equity / fixed-income funds with > $1trillion AUM) and as an M&A advisor focused on cross-border deals between European mid-market and emerging Asian countries. Shoko also consulted IFC in Washington DC to perform the World Bank group’s EM investment portfolio evaluation, before co-founding a renewable energy startup in Italy and Japan. Shoko holds BA in Environmental Planning from the University of Tokyo, MBA from INSEAD and Master in Corporate Finance from SDA Bocconi.


Brandon Naber is an investor, advisor, consultant, and coach focused on helping high-growth B2B Internet/SaaS businesses build world-class, predictable Sales & Marketing Engines.

Previously, while working around the globe with LinkedIn (IPO), Twitter (IPO), Dropbox (IPO), Brandon was building & leading high performing Sales & Marketing teams responsible for every major market in the world - managed 150+ sales reps, 80+ countries across 6 continents, 20+ languages, 130+ hires.

Since founding Sales Development Coach in 2015, Brandon has been a leadership consultant for Dropbox (IPO), SurveyMonkey (IPO), CalReply (Startup, Acquired), Enboarder (Startup, Seed), FlareHR (Startup, A-Round + B-Round), Asana and a leadership coach for 20+ startups.

Brandon works with 500 Startups & TechStars as a Mentor. He is also a keynote speaker and runs startup-focused workshops in SEA for several top-tier VC firms on building predictable, scalable Sales & Marketing Engines - e.g. 500 Startups, Sequoia Capital, etc.


Rafael Aldon is an entrepreneurial startup venture investor with a focus on technology and innovation. As Director of VenturesOne Asia, Rafael invests into, and helps scale-up, early growth stage businesses addressing big challenges with transformative solutions in Europe and Asia. Rafael led VenturesOne's Series A investment into Geospatial Insight; a company applying machine learning and big data analytics to high-resolution satellite and drone imagery in order to improve corporate decision making in Insurance, Financial Services, Energy and other industries. Rafael serves as a Non-Executive Director on their board.

Before VenturesOne Asia he worked in buy-side M&A for a boutique Private Equity firm and led their operations on a JV business based in Singapore and co-created a new mobile brand called “Obi” after gaining a decade+ experience in mobile/telecoms industry in the UK, mostly B2B but also B2C sales and marketing, strategy and execution, including a long stint with BlackBerry.


Thanks to our panellists, everybody in auditorium received plenty of insights from the VC's/entrepreneurs before the pitches!

Kartikeya Shekhar "Thrive" - A Soft Skills Coaching Company in India

Kartikeya began his career in 2012 with the International Finance Corporation, World Bank Group where he worked on several high-impact development projects in the education, healthcare, and retail sectors across the globe. Armed with new insights and fuelled by his passion for democratizing education through technology, Kartikeya then joined Bridge International Academies, the world’s largest education innovation social enterprise serving families who live on less than $2/day in Africa and India. As Project Director, he supported Bridge’s management teams in Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, and Uganda, and helped the company expand its operations in India in 2016. Kartikeya is also Co-Founder of the Indian Debating Union, a global independent professional debating forum aimed at creating positive change in society through discussion and debate.

Kartikeya is currently pursuing his MBA at INSEAD in Singapore. During his breaks, he spends his time with university students across India helping them develop their leadership and soft skills, which is something he is extremely passionate about.

Adrien Pierson http://www.xspon.com/

Adrien has almost two decades of professional experience and is currently the founder and CEO of XSPON, a B2B sponsorship marketing platform. French, educated in Britain and Spain, he built his career in the worlds of sales and marketing in industries ranging from FMCG, IT and Sports which would set the foundations for his entrepreneurial journey since 2012. He can best be described as a “people person” – his profound attention for others is the driving force of his career and life objectives. Changing industries, whilst remaining in the same field of work, has provided him a solid understanding of the multiple facets of customer personas and their impact on an organisation’s values, mission and strategy.

Fluent in French, English and Spanish, Adrien holds a BSc in business administration from Cardiff University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in change management, individual and organisational psychology at INSEAD. Living in Singapore for the last six years, happily married, and father of three very blond children, he is a regular sportsman with a passion for golf.


Stefano Mazzoni Energy Smart Solutions http://www.es-solutions.eu/

Dr. Stefano Mazzoni received his Master Degree with honours in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering in 2010, working on energy conversion systems and turbomachineries. From 2011 to 2016, Dr. Stefano Mazzoni has been working under the European Projects H2-IGCC and OMSoP during his PhD and Post Doc, respectively, at the University of Roma.

In July 2016, Dr. Stefano moved to Singapore as Research Fellow at Nanyang Technological University, working on the NRF founded Smart Multi Energy System (SMES) project where, together with Prof. Alessandro Romagnoli, has recently incorporated a start-up company for developing the ©E-Optimal Planning Tool (©E-OPT).

Dr. Stefano has published more than twenty papers in the international context. He has been awarded as an outstanding reviewer for the prestigious Elsevier Applied Energy Journal and been honoured to be a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems.

The idea to create a safe training space pioneered so effectively by Gilles Le Guennec in Paris worked well across the world now!
